IMPACT

The Chelsea Community Foundation provides grants to organizations in the area that serve the Chelsea community and provide benefits to residents.

2021

  • Trinity Health Michigan: Support for respite rooms for the caregivers in Livingston County’s only emergency departments treating COVID patients
  • Work Kills Corporation: Support for the purchase of three tabletop decontamination cabinets
  • Howell Parks & Rec: Support for the purchase and installation of security cameras for the interior and exterior of a youth center
  • LACASA: Support for the restoration of playgroups for children and parents
  • Pickney Community Public Library: Support for purchase and installation of touchless water fountain stations

 

2020

  • Chelsea Education Foundation: $10,000 support for strategic planning
  • Chelsea District Library: $15,000 support for unusual operating expenses related to COVID-19 response
  • UMRC Heritage Foundation: $15,000 support for unusual operating expenses related to COVID-19 response
  • Chelsea Senior Citizens Activities Center: $15,000 support for unusual operating expenses related to COVID-19 response
  • The Purple Rose Theatre Company: $15,000 support for unusual operating expenses related to COVID-19 response
  • St. Louis Center for Exceptional Children and Adults: $15,000 support for unusual operating expenses related to COVID-19 response

2019

  • City of Chelsea: grant of $23,500 to support facility expansion for the Chelsea Area Historical Society
  • Trinity Health: grant of $25,000 to support building pathways around St. Joseph Mercy Chelsea Hospital to increase connectivity and improve safety for residents

 

2018

  • Chelsea District Library: grant of $10,000 to the Chelsea District Library for support of a three-day artist residency with writer Luis Rodriguez
  • UMRC Foundation: grant of $15,000 to the UMRC Foundation for support of an arts engagement and instruction program for older adults

 

2017

  • Chelsea School District: $5,000 support for the creation of the Alumni Arbor at Chelsea High School
  • City of Chelsea: $25,000 support for the design of Letts Linear Park
  • State of Michigan: $10,000 support for the construction of a nature play area and an accessible trail at the Eddy Discovery Center

 

2016

  • UMRC Foundation: $25,000 support for providing UMRC staff and local caregivers with training in the “Positive Approach” program, to reduce or avoid behavioral health challenges among adults with late-stage dementia.
  • St. Louis Center: $25,000 support for the expansion of health and wellness programming for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

 

2015

  • City of Chelsea: $25,000 as the fiscal sponsor for the Chelsea Area Historical Society, to enhance historical education programming by creating signage and professional-quality exhibits.
  • Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra: $10,000 over two years for a music performance, education and outreach program throughout the Chelsea community.
  • Fair Food Network: $15,000 support over three years to expand the Double Up Food Bucks healthy food incentive program in Chelsea.
  • Lyndon Township: $25,000 support for the Potawatomi Mountain Biking Association to create a sustainable mountain biking trail system in the Waterloo State Recreation Area (now known at the DTE Energy Foundation Trail).
  • General operating support in recognition of the foundation’s 20th anniversary was provided to:
