Inclusive Arts Fund

Funding Art. Fueling Culture. Fostering Inclusion.

The Inclusive Arts Fund exists to provide small and midsize art and culture organizations in southeast Michigan with funding to provide access to equitable, innovative, and affordable programming to foster a more inclusive region and drive economic development.

The fund launched in 2022 with an initial investment from the Ralph C. Wilson Jr. Foundation. Since the initial investment, the Fund has awarded one million dollars to sixty-four leading arts and culture organizations in southeast Michigan. Most recently, $500,000 was awarded to 35 arts organizations to support their missions and programs. We understand that investing in art and culture ultimately drives economic development within the region. Support for inclusive access is intended to assist individual organizations and/or the arts and culture sector as a whole to ensure their offerings and operations are designed to attract and welcome diverse and varied audiences. The purpose of this fund is to support small to mid-sized 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations that have arts and culture as core of their mission. This is a broad yet competitive fund which supports organizations physically located in and/or operate in one or more of seven counties of the Community Foundation’s service area: Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, Monroe, Washtenaw, Livingston and St. Clair.

We anticipate proposals that reflect the importance of organizations and programming that:

  • Reflect the mission of the organization and a clear understanding of who the organization serves
  • Increase access to equitable, inclusive, and affordable arts and culture programs
  • Support diversity, equity, and inclusion principles within the arts organizations themselves
