Standing Together in Times of Uncertainty
Over the past several days, we have seen significant shifts at the federal level, including the White House budget office’s announcement of a freeze on federal funding, which has since been rescinded.
The rapid pace of change means that many partners across the communities we serve may be experiencing heightened stress, facing the difficult prospect of service disruptions or struggling to plan for the future. We recognize the weight of this moment, and will remain thoughtful and sensitive to the dynamics in our region.
From economic downturns to government shutdowns to the COVID-19 pandemic — our community has demonstrated strength and resilience. We will continue to uphold that spirit today. Our foundation, alongside donors and philanthropic partners, will do what we have always done: support the organizations that make our communities strong, adapt to emerging needs and respond with purpose.
Especially during times of uncertainty, we encourage everyone — donors, partners and community members — to come together, just as we have in the past, to ensure that southeast Michigan is a place where everyone can thrive.
We will share more information as it becomes available, and in the meantime, we ask you to check in on the organizations you care about, offer support where you can, and stay engaged in the well-being of our community.
Strength. Agility. Resilience. We can do hard things well together.
Yours for southeast Michigan,
Nicole Sherard-Freeman
