The Max M. & Marjorie S. Fisher Foundation’s Supporting Brightmoor Leaders program provides capacity building grants to social impact organizations and individual neighborhood leaders within the Brightmoor neighborhood.
Brightmoor Maker Space
Bicycles, water emergency response vehicles, T-shirts, furniture, robots… these are a few products Detroit youth are churning out at Brightmoor Maker Space, a community workshop and business incubator that provides hands-on training in woodworking, metalworking, and other creative enterprises. staff will guide students in teaching a series of workshops in Detroit and Chicago.
Brightmoor Quaility Early Childhood Initiative
Brightmoor Quality Early Childhood Initiative (BQI) is formed by a group of high-quality home- and center-based childcare providers. In their effort to grow in knowledge and skill to improve their quality of service, the BQI providers were planning to participate in a variety of trainings and conferences across the country but instead opted to use their grants for general operating support. BQI Members are: Alice in Wonderland, Children of the Rising Sun Empowerment Center, Crystal Swann Childcare, LLC, Greater Ebenezer Christian Childcare Center, Gwen’s Heaven’s Angels, Jill’s Creative Learning, Kristy’s Development Center, Little Scholars, Squiggles & Giggles, and Village of Shiny Stars.
Brightmoor Quaility Early Childhood Initiative
Cross Pollination Cooridor
Led by Brightmoor community activist and business owner Rosalyn Flint, the Cross Pollination Corridor consists of two once-blighted Brightmoor homes that have been renovated to serve as a multi-faceted education hub and youth development space. With a meeting house, education center, and other gathering spaces planned on-site like a meditation garden, the project is dedicated to informing community members about the vital roles that pollinators like bees, bats, and butterflies play in creating a sustainable ecosystem.

With programs in behavioral health services, early childhood programs, and adult employment, Development Centers Inc. helps children, adults, and families live healthier, happier lives. As part of the group’s ongoing efforts to serve as a leader in the human services field, it will provide staff with professional development opportunities that will enhance organizational fundraising, leadership and communication.
Grandparents Parenting Again
Launched nearly a decade ago, Grandparents Parenting Again provides workshops, events, and other resources to assist senior citizens in the midst of raising younger family members. In addition to expanding its programming and curriculum, the organization’s founders are also working to design an action plan to develop senior housing in the Brightmoor neighborhood University: tours of vocational/trade schools and community colleges; technology training for grandparents; transportation to grandparents to bi-weekly meetings.
