Supporting organizations are corporations managed by the Community Foundation.
They benefit from our public charity status, grantmaking and investment expertise while fulfilling their unique missions.
SUPPORTING ORGANIZATIONS
Supporting Organizations offer donors significant advantages — including favorable tax status and full participation in grantmaking and investment decisions — while avoiding the financial and management burdens that private foundations often encounter.
Previous Supporting Organization
DMC Foundation
For the past ten years the DMC Foundation has been dedicated to promoting the well-being of people in metro Detroit through the support of health-related research, education and community benefit activities. Since 2013, the DMC Foundation awarded over $20 million in grants focused on improving the health of communities in Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties.
The DMC Foundation reached the end of its 10-year term as a supporting organization on Dec. 31, 2023, following which it dissolved and distributed its assets to the Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan. The Community Foundation will continue to support the health and wellness of metro Detroit and will continue to honor the legacy and intent of the former DMC Foundation and the charitable purposes of its funds.
