Crain’s Detroit Business recently honored Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan President and CEO Nicole Sherard-Freeman among its inaugural class of Women of Influence.

The 10 leaders – who are steering billion-dollar transformations, pioneering breakthrough technologies and creating new paths for the next generation of leaders – were celebrated for their influence throughout the metro Detroit business community.

Sherard-Freeman was recognized for her leadership as a foundation executive deploying hundreds of millions of dollars in community investment.

“At Community Foundation, Sherard-Freeman leads an organization that convenes major philanthropic efforts like the New Economy Initiative and the Detroit’s bankruptcy ‘Grand Bargain,’” Crain’s notes. “She is also trusted by donors and foundations to manage charitable assets that are part of an endowment valued at $1.3 billion as of the end of last year. It is among the largest community foundations in the country, making more than $120 million in grants in southeast Michigan annually.”
