On the passing of Amy Hartmann

The Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan is deeply saddened by the passing of our longtime partner Amy Hartmann of Grosse Pointe.
Hartmann, who was a member of the Community Foundation’s Legal Financial Network, had a distinguished law career. Prior to establishing Hartmann & Nihem, PLLC, in 2018 Amy spent ten years practicing in the areas of estate planning and trust administration at Gandelot Hartmann in Detroit, preceded by her role as Assistant United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Michigan.
Earlier in her career, Hartmann co-founded the Michigan Children’s Law Center, a nonprofit organization that represents children in child protection and delinquency matters in Wayne County Juvenile Court. She also served as a legal liaison in Oakland County on behalf of the State Court Administrative Office and led a multi-disciplinary team dedicated to improving child abuse and neglect investigations.
Hartmann will be remembered for her commitment to her clients and her community, kindness, generosity, and positive impact throughout southeast Michigan. We extend our heartfelt condolences to her family and friends.
