We’re Hiring: Senior Director, Donor Services

The Opportunity

The Senior Director of Donor Services is responsible for a wide range of asset development and donor services activities with the primary goal of securing financial support for the Community Foundation, including current and planned gifts, with the ultimate goal of building permanent endowment for the region.

This individual is viewed as a key leader within the department who will help to introduce, develop, or improve services for donors and potential donors to the Community Foundation. This person will work with other staff to ensure a high level of donor satisfaction and engagement with the Community Foundation.

This person also interacts with professional advisors to strengthen relationships with existing advisors and build relationships with advisors who have yet to work with the Community Foundation.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, research, cultivate and secure principal level gifts to meet established annual new gift goals.
  • Develop, implement, and manage asset development plans in targeted areas of growth for the Community Foundation with emphasis working with targeted groups such as the CFSEM Board of Trustees.
  • Review existing lines of business in conjunction with the Community Foundation’s strategic planning process in order to improve services for donors and their professional advisors.
  • Exercise sound judgment in securing gifts and managing existing relationships to meet the objectives of the donor while supporting the mission and operations of the Community Foundation.
  • Market a full range of gift vehicles and programs for major gift acquisition, including current and planned gifts.
  • Contact and meet with assigned donors to ensure satisfaction on services provided by the Community Foundation and secure additional gifts.
  • Continue and expand relationships and secure new gifts with affinity groups in the region.
  • Manage assigned events and engagement opportunities that expand the public’s awareness of the Community Foundation to attract new donors.
  • Perform other duties as assigned including participation in other activities as assigned by the Vice President, Donor Services.

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, public policy, public administration, business, communications, or another elated field required, with a graduate degree desirable.
  • Minimum of ten years of experience in development with non-profit organizations or senior marketing experience.
  • Proven experience to secure gifts of 6-figures or higher.
  • Proven success working in a multifaceted development environment.
  • Experience with portfolio management and prospect development.
  • Demonstrated communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Outstanding organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities.
  • Passion, strong work ethic, self-motivated drive, and love of connecting resources to needs and opportunities.
  • Working knowledge of charitable gift planning techniques and willingness for continued learning of such techniques.
  • Database proficiency; knowledge of fundraising/donor management software a plus.
  • Desire to build a rapport with co-workers and a commitment to building deep knowledge of CFSEM, its constituents, lines of business, and stakeholders.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with an appetite for collaboration.
  • A commitment to CFSEM’s mission and values, to incorporating DEIJ into our mission and values, and a desire to be an integral part of strategic planning for CFSEM to ensure our permanence in the region we serve.
