Funding Area:
Collective Impact

The Pontiac Funders Collaborative is supporting the creation of a cross-sector collaborative that uses a collective impact approach.

Members of the Collaborative began meeting with a group of approximately 40 community leaders and residents in early 2020. Working closely through 2020, the group evolved into the Pontiac Collective Impact Partnership (PCIP). The PCIP is funded by a grant that was awarded to Oakland University. Oakland University was selected by the group to serve as the fiscal and administrative home for a three-year term. The PCIP began to formalize a working structure and in late 2020 hired Samino Scott as its first executive director.

The initiative is now working to establish clearly defined, measurable outcomes that address social challenges in Pontiac. Beginning in 2021, the partners will begin to implement targeted strategies associated with each outcome.

What is collective impact?

Collective impact is a framework that helps cross-sector partners collaborate together and with residents. It helps diverse partners, such as residents, nonprofits, businesses, the school district, local government, and fundersĀ  who all work on different issues, develop and implement a common vision and measurable outcomes for the future.
