Transportation program connects suburban seniors to Detroit’s Eastern Market Oakland Press

In In The News
Seniors in Macomb, Oakland and Wayne counties have enjoyed a free ride to Eastern Market due to a $75,000 grant through Healthy Food Connect, a regional initiative of the Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan to increase healthy food access for children and seniors in the region.

The grant provides free bus transportation on Tuesdays throughout the summer, along with a $10 voucher to buy produce. Buses pick up riders at community and senior centers, nursing homes and other facilities and bring them to Eastern Market Corporation for a few hours.
